Postnatal Mum & Baby Fit Pilates and Intense Pilates FAQ’s

When can I start Mum and Baby Fit Pilates?

You can start the class from 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks minimum after a caesarean section (as long as your wound is healed and you feel ok to exercise).

When can I start the Intense Pilates Buggy Class?

You are welcome to come to the more intensive Pilates class at 3 months postnatal or anytime thereafter as long as you don’t have a prolapse or a diastasis (abdominal separation).

Can I bring my baby to the class?

You can bring your baby to both classes.

The Mum and Baby class is a little more relaxed and babies can lie on blankets or mats.

Babies stay in their buggies for the Intense Pilates Buggy Class.

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring water to stay hydrated whilst you exercise. The body is made up mostly of water; it needs water to heal after giving birth and when breastfeeding it can be easy to dehydrate.

Also bring toys and a blanket for your baby as well as the usual changing bag.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move and to be flexible.

How much are the classes?

The Mum and Baby Fit Pilates is £40 a month, come for a FREE taster class  programme to check it out.

The Intense Pilates Buggy class is £67 for 10 weeks, 11th free, use within 15 weeks.

I’ve been diagnosed with a prolapse can I still start the class?

Yes definitely, but only Mum and Baby Fit Pilates. The class includes gentle core, pelvic floor, glutes, upper and lower limb strengthening exercises. These will all help strengthen and control the pelvic area. You will also need to do home exercises, putting pelvic floor in to daily activities, sit to standing, standing etc.

I’ve been diagnosed with an abdominal separation, can I do Pilates?

Yes but you need a 1:1 first to start with more specific programme.
