FIT TO RUN / WALK

FIT TO RUN / WALK

Are You A Woman Who Wants To Run? (or return to running?)

Did you know?

For women over 35 who run, their most common injuries are foot and ankle related?

That over one quarter of the bones in your body are in your feet, so if they’re not happy, nothing else will be!

That if you’re leaking with running, it may be more important to work on hip mobility rather than isolated pelvic floor ‘clenching’!

Are you afraid of leaking when you’re running? Do you have pain with running? Or maybe you’re wanting to get back to running after injury? Then this is the programme for you!

This great course was created by our clinical leader  and Leading Women’s Health Physiotherapist Michelle Lyons and is designed to give us THE VERY BEST FOUNDATION from the bottom up to support us during running and walking and prevent injuries.

This is a six week programme, delivered by your HCR coach that is going to give you a good foundation – literally from the ground up! – to get you back to running. It’s a programme specifically designed for women (because women are DIFFERENT and need bespoke training!)

We’ll cover foot and ankle mobility and strength initially, and over the course, we’ll work together on building resilience in your calves and shins, improving your knees and hips, gain mobility in your spine and pelvis and show you how to put it all together. We’re not guaranteeing you’ll never pick up another running injury but we want to show you how to ‘control your controllables’ when it comes to the most common injuries women who dun have to deal with.

Week 1: Foot and Ankle mobility and strength for female runners

Week 2: Calves and Shins–self care care for female athletes

Week 3: Building better knees–mastering your ‘Kneehab’

Week 4: Hip Strength & Mobility For Female Runners

Week 5: Lumbopelvic Mobility for Female Runners

Week 6: Putting it all together with plyometrics

And this is because we’re not all runners, it’s definetly not my favourite.  Fact is that walking needs good balance and control too.  This course works amazingly well to make us more co-ordinated and balanced whilst walking.

So let’s not get bogged down into thinking it’s just for runners as we all need to work on our balance and mobility more.

If you are new or returning to running, this course is great to do alongside a progressive running programme such as the NHS Couch to 5k. If you are already a regular runner then it will sit beautifully with your current training. And if running is not your thing but you are a regular walker, keep reading!

Some homework videos will be provided to keep you on track.

The course will be delivered fully Zoom meetings.  No face to face at pressent.

The cost is £80 for the 6 week course, payment link is below.

The next course starts on Saturday 9th January at 10am til Feb 13th.

Following course is Saturday 20th February 10am

When you pay please watch out for the health form, complete with as much detail as able.  Then can’t wait to get started.  I’ll be in touch with the zoom link nearer the date.
